Are You a Shuttermomma?!

March 5, 2011

About a year and a half ago my very good friend Erin Tukua, of Erin Tukua Photography came to me with a great idea!! She mentioned to me that mom’s on her shoots are always asking her for advice on how to take better pics of their kids, and I totally knew what she was talking about, I had the same thing happen to me time and time again.  Erin had devised a website where moms’ (and dads’) could come and learn how to take better pictures of their kids!! I thought this was such a great idea, that when she asked me to be her partner in it, I was beyond thrilled!!  I have watched Erin grow over the years as a wife, mom, and now amazing photographer, that I was so excited to do something like this with her. Well a lot of time past, and Erin got pregnant again, had a newborn baby while raising twins, and then Chris and I got pregnant!  But we decided that now was the perfect time to start our adventure!!

Shutter Momma has arrived!! If you are a mom with one of those fancy dslr cameras but stuck shooting on auto, Shuttermomma is for you! Shuttermomma was dreamed up with the intention of helping chic shuttermomma’s learn how to take better pictures of their kids! We aren’t for advanced learners, but if you are a beginner and want to learn how to stop shooting in auto and begin shooting in manual, you are in the right place! We will be offering tips, lessons, products we can’t live without, as well as fun contests and giveaways each week! Our little ones grow so fast, and here at Shuttermomma, we want to help you capture every moment!  It is such a fun site already, and we are really looking forward to sharing tips and advice with you, seeing your photos of your little ones improve, and just building a community of fun moms (and dads)!!

Stop by and check us out!! www.shuttermomma.com

There isn’t any better way to spend a beautiful fall morning then taking pictures of one of our favorite families!!  Each year we are lucky enough to document the love that the Ferguson family shares!!  It is even sweeter, that I have gotten to watch Josh grow from a goofy teenager who sat next to me in science, and always cracked us up with his Ace Ventura impressions, so an equally goofy and wonderful husband and father!! He got pretty lucky when he married Vanessa, who is an amazing and strong woman, a beautiful soul, and loving wife and mother!  This family always impresses me with their awesomeness!!  I can’t think of a better start to Thanksgiving then spending the morning with them!! Here are a few shots I love…

WOW! I love your use of the tree and all it’s changing leaves and the beautiful colors. Just gorgeous.

Chris and I have been luck enough to know the Hansen Family for several years.  We have watched Maggie and James grow from the proud new parents of a baby girl, Ella, to the accomplished and seasoned pros of a family of 3, with the addition of Noah and Iris.  Even though we do not get to see them very often, the brief times we share with them feel magical.  This family is so amazing, and the children just warm your heart through and through.  You can’t help but smile when you are around them.  Ella, is always shy at first, but them warms up into my little hammy and so funny!  I love how she has to scrunch her whole face to smile.  Noah, is all boy, very adventurous, and he is the cutest how he grunts when he walks!!  He has never really liked us taking his picture… but we’re breaking him of that!! Iris, the little angel, is the newest addition to the family, and she was so excited to be a part of the Hansen clan, that she came a few months early, and scared mommy and daddy!! She had to spend her first (many) days here in the hospital, but she is now healthy and strong, and so excited to be at home with everyone!!  This family is really amazing, and I hope our baby is 1/8 as wonderful as these 3!!!  Here are a few photos to make you smile….
